Would You Like Me To Pose With A Life Size Yellow Bunny?

Sometimes I really have nothing to share.

But of course you gotta keep the blog rolling so you write something.

Oh, I know. I'll call it a "Think Piece".

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Feels great right now having so much work I'm excited to make and share.

Here we have a rainy morning with John Evershed of Mondo Media and Happy Tree Friends with Cole Simon in the suit.

Photographed for Clare Jordan of The Globe And Mail / ROB.

I can't really accurately explain how hard it was to work with that costume.

Mum's the word.

But here in the photo it looks so easy...:)

Popular Photography, March 2013

Been a long long time since I walked into a newsstand and bought a copy of Popular Photography magazine.

First time I ever bought 3 copies.

Total thrill for me, really and truly.

Interview With Myself, 2013

Hey there. Great to see you.

TA: Yah...been a while, huh?

Yes, two years or so. You still pushing that E Coli thing? I think I saw you talking about it on the internet somewhere? That thing with your kid?

TA: It's called ECHOLILIA. Don't pretend you don't know the name of it. Please.

Fair enough. What are you working on now?

TA: Oh, well the new project is called : "Working For A Living". Also known as doing assignment work. I promote myself with assignment work, I get assignment work, I get paid, and ideally the cycle repeats. You are expecting more?

Well I thought your whole thing was you were the guy with the personal projects that brought you all this joy and fullfillment and...

TA: Oh, I am. And I was. But this is 2013. I want to be one of those photographers who makes their assignments as great as their personal work ...or they make it their greatest work. I want to be Andrew Hetherington in the editorial world or Erik Almas in the world of high end adwork. I want to get my joy from that. Can't I have that?

Well like they say, it's good work if you can get it. Good luck with that...might want to keep that day job.

TA: It is my day job.

Baton Rouge Calling

So what is going on in Baton Rouge of all places?

Well, we got ECHOLILIA.
We got the Junior League of Baton Rouge.
We have a MASSIVE exhibition, for me at least.
We've got a lecture where I tell y'all how to parent your kids. ( As if!)
Of course...we got a party for you to go to as well.

And...the best part is we have a call for entries. Kids on the spectrum, parents on the spectrum, they wanna see your world in this juried photography exhibition they are putting together with grace and elegance.

A Gift From God, Kind Of.

Hard to really explain how exciting it was to walk into this office and see this series of paintings lining the semi-private seating room.

We begged, we pleaded: we only need it for 20 minutes max. And we need to turn out the lights. Please?

They agreed, and we thanked the powers that be, or were, or are. :)

Please Hand Over Your License

It is a very strange experience to run into something like this, above.

It's kind of my photograph, but a bit different, but is it really mine? Well, the guy is my guy, but it looks a little off...

Stylist Shannon Amos came across this image on Tumblr while researching Iditarod of all things. She sent it my way, I posted it to Facebook, and of course friends were talking all about the intellectual property theft / copyright violation. They got your back, of course! But the last thing I wanted was any lawyer anything really, and to me it looked like a rave flyer cooked up in some kids dorm room. And the Hebrew text wasn't helping me figure any of this out.

Joke was on me: while greedily doing a Google images search and at least looking at some lawyerly websites, I realized this was legit, licensed via Getty. Massive monopolies can be good for you!

Notes From The East Coast

On the east coast this week in Boston and Cambridge and points beyond.

Dirty snow creating mini monuments to all the Schenectady winters of my youth.

Matchbox Boys: 2/2013

A couple images that came from our shoot for Bloomberg Business Week for the story to end all stories: Mattel's Mom Issue : They Really Don't Get Hotwheels.

Happy to see that they ran what was clearly my favorite photograph from the shoot as the opener. Is it my favorite photograph of the year? Well maybe. Photo Editor Donna Cohen conceived of this inspired assignment, reminding me that this is what happens when the photo editor and photographer have some history. Every once an a while it all comes together.

See our story HERE and HERE. Read Mattel's Mom Issue HERE.
