It is hard for me to look at a photograph of someone with something on their head and not think of Abu Ghraib.

ya, i see what you mean. kind of a bummer, cuz i'm really not trying to do anything political, its all aiming to be on a much more micro scale.
i originally liked it because i thought it looked like one of his senses was either erased or was expanded....something like that. and then, of course, i thought it looked kinda cool.

It's interesting - a touch Roger Ballen perhaps. And a bit Abu Ghraib. Not adorable, but very fitting with what children do

I find this image weird and hysterical, and I think the dark mood only contributes to the humor. It evokes the odd things kids do, the unique worlds in which they live, the fact that they don't care what other people think, and that they sometimes just mysteriously sit and think their unknowable thoughts. Also, it speaks to me about the odd world of consumer products, stationery, office supplies, etc. Seriously. This is a world that deserves looking into. Office supplies are a part of our life, and in this case, one took over.

Ethan- thanks for writing and glad you like it. There is a randomness to the things kid's do that seems at times threatening and innocent. I thought this shot had a little of both of those things.

Lovely and slightly unsettling. Charming.
